Cumann na mBunscol Hurling Blitz April 2024

We travelled to Lisnamult recently to take part in the hurling blitz for 2024, hoping to do well enough to qualify for the next stage of the competition. We had 5 games, all against good, strong, traditional hurling schools; Ballymurray, Athleague, Newtown, Moore, and Coman’s Wood. The weather started off nice and dry, and we opened with 2 victories – a hard-fought encounter with Ballymurray, which we won narrowly, and a slightly more open game against Athleague, where we again emerged victorious.

These games were followed by 3 enthralling encounters, all of which ended up as draws – versus Newtown, Moore and Coman’s Wood. In each case, we could have won, or we could have lost, so we were quite happy to finish the day undefeated, and in 2nd place. Our 1/4 final will be against Roxboro soon.
