Cumann na mBunscol Hurling Quarter Final
Cumann na mBunscol Hurling Quarter Final
Having won our qualifying blitz in the Cumann na mBunscol hurling competition, we travelled to Four Roads to play Tisrara (Four Roads) NS in the quarter final. We were missing one of our stronger players, Mícheál Hussey, and we wondered where the scores would come from.
We started poorly, and Tisrara scored 3 unanswered points, although we did have chances. However, Cormac Mee crashed the ball to the back of the net after 7 minutes to get us up and running. This mini revival served only to anno the tisrara boys, who answered with 2 goals of their own to lead by 2-4 to 1-2 at half time – and that was us with the breeze!
In the second half, Dylan Conlon came out of goal – William Brandon went in – and provided a strong goal threat for Lisaniskey, finishing the game with 3 goals. Unfortunately, we conceded 2 late goals ourselves, and the game went to extra time.
In the first period, we surged into a 5 point lead, and when Tisrara had the breeze in the second period, some stout defending by Ryan McNamara, Shane Walsh, Cormac Mee and Cormac Kenny saw us hold on for a victory that was wildly celebrated.
It must have been the girls’ jerseys that did the trick for us!!
LISANISKEY NS: Dylan Conlon, Ryan McNamara, Shane Walsh, Conor Harris, Cormac Mee, Tommie O’Hara, Cormac Kenny, Jack Cuddy, Michael Harrington, Eoghan Murray, Tyrone Brogan, William Brandon
Our reward for winning this Quarter Final is a semi final against Gaelscoil de hÍde. Bring it on!!
