Futsal County Final

The boys and girls in 3rd and 4th class took part in the county finals of the Futsal 5-a-side soccer tournament in Creggs on Tuesday, 14th June. Lisaniskey girls played Creggs N.S. and Tarmon N.S. in the group stages before meeting Tarmon again in a thrilling semi-final which went to extra-time and penalties. Tarmon edged the penalty shoot-out but the girls can take pride in their excellent displays. Lisaniskey Boys team defeated Loughglynn N.S. and Fourmilehouse N.S. in the group stages to reach the final where their opponents were Tarmon N.S. The teams produced a pulsating final. Entering injury-time Lisaniskey trailed 2-1 but a well-worked equaliser brought the match to extra-time. Showing composure under pressure Lisaniskey conjured a marvellous team goal to clinch a deserved victory. Well done to everyone involved on what was a most enjoyable day.
