Cumann na mBunscol Hurling Semi Final
We played the Gaelscoil in our hurling semi final on Thursday June 2nd in Lisnamult. On a really hot day, we tried hard, and got off to a good start, when Shane Walsh and Cormac Mee combined well in midfield to set up a goal scored by Dylan Conlon. However, after that, the Gaelscoil scored 2 goals and tacked on a number of unanswered points to take a commanding lead. In fairness, they were much stronger than us, and only some stout defending by Ryan McNamara, and some good goalkeeping by William Brandon kept the score down. In the second half, some excellent long range points by Finn Killian stretched the Gaelscoil’s lead even more, and our only score before the end of the game came from a goal scored by Shane Walsh from a free from 25 metres.
When the game ended, we were disappointed, but we knew we had been beaten by a better team. They progress to the A final against Fuerty, while we now play Newtown in the B final.
