Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Finals – June 2023

The first two weeks of June were absolutely fantastic for Lisaniskey NS from a sporting perspective. Our camogie, hurling, and Girls’ football teams were all competing in finals. To start off, our camogie team were in the A County final, against Ballyforan, on Wednesday, May 31st. The finals were all held in Lisnamult, and our girls proved too strong for a gallant Ballyforan team. Well done to all our players, and especially our captain, Olivia, who scored everything for her team that evening.

The following evening, our hurlers played Glanduff in the Div 3 final, again, in Lisnamult. This was an epic encounter, and at the final whistle, only the bare minimum separated the teams, with Lisaniskey winning by a point. Captain Cillian Hoare stepped up to receive the shield on behalf of his teammates. As the previous day, the celebrations moved on to Supermac’s, followed by the obligatory beeping around the parish.

One week after winning the camogie final, the girls were in the 3-4 Teacher Girls’ football final, playing a strong and talented Moore team. The sides had already met in the camogie early on in the year, and this game proved every bit as tight and tense as the small ball game. With everyone playing their hearts out, Lisaniskey were victorious, completing the camogie and football double for 2023. Captain Claire Fetherston was effusive in her praise for all her players as she lifted the trophy aloft. Cue more Supermac’s, and, yes, you guessed it, more beeping!

Well done to all concerned, and thanks to the parents and supporters for all their encouragement.

Check out a few snaps from the 3 days. And here is the link to the video of the beeping around the parish from the day of the hurling final.    https://youtube.com/shorts/enrYreF9bJ4?feature=share
